My dear church family and friends,
Happy Mother’s Day!
With much joy I am looking forward to celebrating this coming Sunday with you, the Fifth Sunday of Easter, also
known as Mother’s Day Sunday. I have to say that I am overjoyed in my anticipation because among the 84 million
mothers in America, we have the best in our midst!
These few weeks much of our conversations are about entering a new partnership with Korean Upper Room
Fellowship, a church that has been renting the last thirteen years in Temple City and is soon to join us at Bethlehem
in July. I am overjoyed that YOU in the English Ministry, over all these years, always make Bethlehem a blessing to
churches in need of help. You embraced the Chinese when they sought their new identity. You extended welcome to
the Indonesians and Koreans in their time of need. Ministries are supported, pastors are cared for, and people are
loved! You have lived out a great motherly love! And you’re continuing Godly love in your life and witness!
Mother’s Day is special for me as my own mother is far away from us. Nevertheless, my family and I are surrounded
by loving mothers and sisters of motherly love. I think of our Lord: while Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his
mother and brothers stood outside. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to
speak to you.” He replied, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are
my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
(Matthew 12:46-50) The same way, YOU are my brother and sister and mother!
The month of May is special because of Mother’s Day. Bethlehem is special because of YOU dedicated mothers,
sisters, and brothers! I am overjoyed by your love! I am overjoyed by the privilege of serving and making Bethlehem a
better place in the same love, motherly love, Godly love!
