After I received the Chu Chung Class ’60 Directory in mid 2010. I saw 王吉平 in the list of passed-away classmates (往
生同學名單). Recently I went over the picture of classmates in our Junior Chu Chung Graduation Picture. It was taken
on July 1, 1957, I saw him in the picture. I felt so bad of losing him. I hope this article could ease my pain of losing him.

He and I were the classmates in Min-Fu Primary School as well as in Junior Chu Chung. I knew quite a bit about his
family situation. He was raised by his grandfather.  His grandpa had a cigarette stand outside of the Cheng-Huang
Temple
(城煌廟). The stand was at the side entrance of small eating places in front of 城煌廟. I did not know what
happened to his dad and ma. We all called him
“牛伯伯”, because he had an over bite. The top cartoon figure was
牛伯伯 at the time. He did not mind at all. He really had a sense of humor. His grandpa treated him very generously,
so he also treated us the same way. We were all crazed about the cartoon named
“牛伯伯打游擊”, so he was very
popular. The cartoon was created by a genius cartoonist
牛哥. 牛哥 was also a very famous writer. His novels were
the best seller. I have read all of his novels.

We both went to Junior Chu Chung in 1954. We were in the same class, Ding Ban. After we graduated from senior
Chu Chung, we lost contact. I heard he was running a political position in Hsinchu. It was after 1965 when I came to U.
S. My impression of him was he was a very nice guy. He was an easy going person. Sometime I wondered why the
nice guy like him and
陳茂森 (Chen, Mao-Sen) died so young. Life is not fair to them. But life goes on, we have to be
strong and face it.
