| Dear Bill Lee, Teacher Hsieh, Teacher Yang and All: Attached please find the email message with ppt slides reached me this morning (Boston time, Dec 13, 2012) from my good old friend Dr. Chong-Pin Lin, who graduated from National Taiwan University (NTU)-Geology Department in 1965 (same to me) and has served, among other important academic and governmental positions in Taiwan, the former deputy minister of Mainland Affairs Council (1996-2002) and former deputy defense minister (2003-2004). I find his talk informative and inspiring and has put beautifully the geological perspective into global affairs relevant to us all. More important ----- My wife and I arrived yesterday in Cambridge, Massachusetts last night from Taipei and were scheduled to fly to Washington, D.C. area on December 21, which lies ominously on the supposed end of the world, the date where the Mayan astronomical calendar mysteriously ends ----- after going through his presentation, I guess that we shall be able to survive passing this date. Dr. Lin has asked for comments to help him "improve for his future performances". I hereby forward to you for soliciting on his behalf your enlightening comments.
