Dear Friends:

My Maltese dog, R2, passed away a week ago.
In memory of him, I wrote a poem.

Wind and Moon

I stood by the lake where we shared the Summer breeze
And Autumn leaves. On the water I saw a reflection:
As if R2 were glancing at me with a smile and ease.
It had been seven sobbing days since we lost connection.

In his younger days, he often barked at a passing car.
He motorized himself when he played hide and seek.
On tummy rubs, he raised his paws for the star.
Hot or cold, he went out with me seven days a week.

He jumped and danced at the door when I came home.
He sat next to me, and we enjoyed a quiet evening.
Our bond was strong; and his love for me filled the room.
He was tender and forgiving, he never hurt my feeling.

He came as a gift from God, a treasure of love, joy and fun.
He's in the Spring wind and August moon; he is not gone.
