張繼之詩   张继之诗   Zhang Ji’s Poem
While I watch the moon go down, a crow caws through the
frost;
Under the shadows of maple-trees a fisherman moves with
his torch;
And I hear, from beyond Suzhou, from the temple on Cold
Mountain,
Ringing for me, here in my boat, the midnight bell.

---- Another version ----
Moon sets, crows cry and frost fills all the sky;
By maples and boat lights, I sleepless lie.
Outside Suzhou Hanshan Temple is in sight;
Its ringing bells reach my boat at midnight.
New Century / New Version

(1) A Lonely Traveler
A waning moon, a frosty night and the crows cawed;
Fishing village's lights, Autumn leaves and homesick;
Bells tolled from HunSun Temple outside GuSu City;
Floating emotion made me sleepless in the guest boat.

(2) Life Is A Lonely Journey
The moon was waning, the crows cawed and the leaves fell;
Soft lights coming from fishing boats brought pure
harmony;
Bells were tolled from Hun Sun Temple outside GuSu Town;
River waves gave me a sleepless frosty night in a luxe boat.
