My dear church family and friends,
This Lenten season has been a period of reflection, renewal, and revelation for us here at Bethlehem. A time of
reflection, on our lives, our mortality, hopes and dreams, it has also not been about ourselves, but about our
relationship with each other in Church and our relationship with the community and with the world.
As a pilgrim people in Jesus, we are constantly being renewed in the power of his Holy Spirit (John 20:22). As we
progress through Lent to Easter, we have lived through many changes as a church family. The wonders of God and
the part we are all called to play are gradually revealed to us. As we celebrate our freedom and look toward the future
with a renewed sense of mission, we have been able see that the Lord is making all things new in our life (Revelation
21:5).
As we now journey through the Holy Week, no matter what horrors assail our eyes, ears and being we must pass
through it before we can get to that glorious Easter morn. For we are called to be one another’s keeper. We are called
to move people from darkness into light. We are called as individuals and as a Church to move, through pain, sorrow,
death, and darkness, into the glorious Easter light of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Finally as we reach Easter Day,
and amid the chocolate we will rejoice in our Risen Savior, who is risen, risen indeed, for us and for all the world! We
will be able to say like Mary Magdalene “I have seen the Lord” (John 20:18)! We will be able to say that these are
not events of the past but promises for today: Jesus comes, Jesus gives, Jesus dies, and Jesus saves!
My prayer for you during this Easter season and beyond is that like Peter you will have the wisdom and courage to
choose and do that which is right and the will of God (John 21: 15-19). Easter will be devoid of meaning if we can't
answer this simple question “Do you love me more than these?”
I know you can! So, let us Rise All You Saints of God! Let us walk the path of love, faith, and hope! Let us this Easter
season rejoice for the Savior of the world is Risen! Have a wonderful, glorious and blessed Easter in the Lord!
