  • Justification depends solely on what Christ has done FOR you.   On that basis alone God declares
     repentant people Not Guilty.    Justification does not fluctuate; it is complete from the moment of
     God’s declaration.   Justification is objective—it happens outside of you, in God.   It is yours as
     long as you trust Jesus & not yourself for your eternal salvation.

  • Sanctification is the Holy Spirit’s work IN you, a lifetime process, with ups and downs that
     depend on your surrender and obedience to Him.   Sanctification is subjective—it happens inside
     you.    While God wants you holy (sanctified) and sorrows when you fail to grow, this does not
     determine your salvation, but does call for your repeated repentance & change of heart.

  • When you seek an answer to the question, “Am I saved?” do NOT look inside at your Sanctification to
    see how you’re doing (which can lead alternately to despair or pride); but look outward and upward
    at your Justification to see the unchanging, finished, atoning work of Jesus for you.
