| I recently received an email about a book by 劉墉: "悲歡離合 總是緣. It reminded me of 虞美人 by 蔣捷. 虞美人(聽雨) 宋‧蔣捷 少年聽雨歌樓上，紅燭昏羅帳。壯年聽雨客舟中，江闊雲 低斷雁叫西風。 而今聽雨僧廬下，鬢已星星也。悲歡離合總無情，一任階 前點滴到天明。 蔣捷（1245年－1301年），出生陽羨（今江蘇宜興)。宋 恭帝咸淳十年（1274年）進士，他生活在宋朝滅亡、元軍 入侵江南的時期，尤其在南宋滅亡後他被迫多次遷徙，生 活非常不穩定。 The line "悲歡離合總無情" summarize his pessimistic view of life; and yet I like it very much. 劉墉's book "悲歡離合總是緣", points out that in the vast emptiness, there are pockets of warmness.
