Dear Bill and 竹中同學們:

Just finished watching a YouTube (12 minutes long) on our classmate, Professor and Maestro Hsu's
﹝徐頌仁﹞art ofconducting , and teaching of that to one student and of the music of late Strauss
to other students. It brings back some memories of my high school days. I remembered that the
band had practiced almost everyday during lunch hours as well as the hours after school. To some
who love music, they created wonderful sounds and rhythm while to few who tried to nap, they
made intolerant noises. Whenever I walked by that building, I saw a bunch of guys with different
instruments in their hands under the instruction of one teacher and one student. That teacher must
be ourhonorable 楊榮祥 老師 while that student must be our likable 徐頌仁 同學。印象中,我
覺得當時「竹中」和辛校長沒有這個「樂隊」和他們兩位好像「活不下去」跟「存在不
了」;現在,回想起來,楊老師和徐教授當年的確了不起。Here is my personal and
belated "SALUTE". Shall we now give both a long, loud and hard round of applause? Let's do it.

I got this video from 徐頌鵬 教授, a good friend of mine here and the older brother of 頌仁 同
學 last night. Please read his e-mail below and click the link to see and listen to what the art of
conducting is all about. I love it. I know you will, too. I took the liberty to share it with you, our
classmates and some fans in your web site. Hopefully, I do not offend anyone at all.

With respect.

Dear Friends,

When we were in Taipei, we watched a few videos about my younger brother, Sung-Jen Hsu (徐
頌仁), teaching the art of conducting at his university (Taipei National University of the Arts).
The videos were recorded by his students and made available at YouTube.

I have just received a video from my brother, which has just been uploaded to YouTube by his
student.  It shows how he, as a Maestro, taught conducting to one of his students.  Sung-Jen has
officially retired from his university, but he is still teaching the class of conducting once or twice a
week.

Please click the following link and enjoy it:
