Email from Che-Bao Ma:
Dear All,
At the time approaching the end of Chinese-Lunar-Year of Snake (my birth-year) and eleven days before the coming Chinese-Lunar-New-Year of Horse (my family name;
which lies on January 31, 2014), Best Wishes to All of You and Your Families for Good Health and Good Fortune as well!

Attached are two photos of my family taken in our latest trip to America:
1) With my wife and younger son in downtown Chicago on January 4, 2014, one day before my wife and I fled out of Chicago on an Amtrak train. (Our January 5 returning
flight to Washington was cancelled and re-booked a number of times until finally settled to 3 days later due to the extremely cold weather conditions.) The train was delayed
for 4 hours leaving Chicago’s Union Station in mid-night and stalled with a few extra stops in the middle of nowhere for a total delay of another 4 hours until we reached
Pittsburgh and then only realized that we were to be de-trained there for an alternative direct bus ride to Washington.

We were lucky with many happy episodes: (1) We had a good-night-sleep in the first-class-VIP-sleeping-cabin by ourselves with meals served. (We had no other choice,
because it’s the only tickets left.) (2) As promised by the ticket-counter lady-attendant in Chicago’s Union Station that we would have lots of scenery --- in response to my
question about what to do for the originally scheduled 17 hours trip --- we did enjoy the scenery a lot, in particular when the train passed by Cleveland, where we had made a
few visits before. (3) The bus ride departing from Pittsburgh took only 4 hours to reach Washington’s also Union Station, which has made up some delayed hours from the
previous journey on Amtrak. In addition, the bus driver used to be a tour guide and gave us many amusing remarks on the way, for example, when passing by IRS on
Constitution Avenue in Washington, he reminded the passengers that there is the building to the left that everyone will stare at; and for the final destination of Washington’s
Union Station, the most fortified building in USA, etc. (4) We arrived at our daughter’s home in the evening of January 6, just in time to catch our departure flight for Taipei the
following day en route Houston and Beijing again with a good-night-sound-sleep after boarding the mid-night flight in Houston followed by a few good in-flight movies and
an excellent breakfast served in Air-China lounge in Beijing overlooking the spacious and modern Peking Capital Airport. --- What an unforgettable adventure for an aged
couple of my wife and myself!

2) With my wife, daughter and older son in front of Monticello, the former resident of America’s third-late President Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville, Virginia on December
27, 2013. The tour of the following three days of that part of the country (including the Monticello itself, the campus of University of Virginia, a Ville Food Tour, a Church
Sunday Service, and wine testing in a popular vineyard of a detour trip on our way back to Washington, etc.) has given me a good get-together time with my family and also
helped broaden my perspective of true country life in America.

Incidentally, a new HCHS Class-1960 Directory is also attached, in which revisions have been made for Patrick Wong (Classmate #153) and Teacher Chi-Heng Yen.
Further revisions and new contact information are heartily welcome, I will be pleased to make the update from time to time and perhaps a major overhaul in a couple of
years or so, as I promised to Patrick Lee (#114) and Nien-Jeng Peng (#103) the other day.

Lastly, a reminder: A mini-reunion for classmates and teachers of HCHS Class-1960 will be held on February 7, 2014 at noon in Taipei, please contact Ying-I Peng (#47) or
Pier Huang (#33) for attendance.
