Thank you very much for forwarding me those exciting emails written by our classmates. 張肇康 and I
have been keeping in touch with each other for quite some time.
From the class directory, I found some names that I still remember so I started making contacts. I had
very pleasant phone conversations talking with 林明德 and 許成興 yesterday. And will try to contact
others later.
I went to Taiwan from Vietnam in 1957 to study in HCHS and was in the 5th. class (wu) until I graduated
in 1960. After graduation, I entered Tai-Ta's Mechanical Engineering Dept. where I finished my college
education in 1964. Then I went to work for a small factory in Taipei for one year. In 1965, I moved to
Bangkok, Thailand and married my wife (who was graduated from Tai-Ta' Literature Dept. in 1965). We
both lived and worked in Bangkok for 13 years and have 2 children. In 1978 we decided to immigrate to
the US. My work experience in Bangkok was in design and building petrochemical storage and
transportation facilities. So I was very lucky to find a job in the same line of business in the States. My
first job was working in Chicago. In 1981 my company transferred me to Houston, Texas where is the
central of energy industry. I continued to work in the same line of business until 2006 when I retired.
During the last 10 years of my employment, I was promoted to the position of Engineering Manager
stationed in the company headquarter. I had the opportunity to travel and build petrochemical storage
tank farms in the USA and many foreign countries. After retirement, I was contracted as a Consultant
working solely for my employer for 2 additional years. Now I am a free consultant working for any
companies who are in need of contracting an engineer with my background and experience to build their
facilities.
My wife and I are now living in a small town called Conroe at 30 miles north of Houston, Texas. We have
a son and a daughter. Our son is now working in Hong Kong and daughter is an assistant professor
teaching in California State U in Los Angeles Campus.
I look forward to seeing you all in the great re-union in December. (2010/07/19)
