Dr. Mo read these during his eulogy at our father's memorial service. Your words have brought comfort to our entire family, and, for this, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please see the attached photo taken of the flowers that were sent on behalf of your EE64 Class. Our mother and the entire family appreciate this thoughtful gesture. Warmest regards, The Yang Family |

| From: Jean Yang Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 8:15 PM To: EE Class of 1964 Subject: To EE Class of 1964 from the family of Dr. Mark C.K. Yang From the family of Dr. Mark C.K. Yang, It is difficult to express our extreme sorrow and grief over the passing of a devoted husband and our father, Dr. Mark Yang. We know he suffered very little at the time of his death as it was only a few minutes between his cerebral aneurism and the cessation of his brain functions. We are continuously grateful by the outpouring of stories and calls to us from his colleagues. It was a top priority for our dad that his four children born and raised in the US were immersed in both American and Chinese culture. He and his beloved wife taught us, three daughters, Lynn, Jean, Grace and son, Justin, to speak Mandarin Chinese. Our dad also insisted his children attend local Taiwanese schools for a year during his sabbatical in Taiwan. This experience has shaped us in so many positive ways for which we are grateful. It's important for us to tell you that our dad's time with you influenced our future in profound ways. Throughout our academic years we were steered to the sciences by him. You'll be pleased to know that two of us are Engineers (Material Science & Engineering and EE) and two of us in medical sciences (Endodontist and General Dentist). Our dad has mentioned to us numerous times his appreciation for his EE colleagues and friends that he has stayed in touch with for over 40 years. He valued your brilliance, friendship, thoughtful opinions and kindness. He would have wanted to tell you this himself but his passing was so sudden and unexpected. We also want you to know what a wonderful, kind and loving father he was. He sacrificed so much; his energy, time and resources for the success of his four children. We love him deeply and know that this loss can never be replaced. His devotion to our mother is one of the many things that defined his life. He wrote poetry and published short stories of their romance and love throughout the 42 years they were married. We would like to end this message with a few words of wisdom that were passed down from our dad to us: "The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." Although only a sample size of 4, we are living proof that this philosophy is 100% true (p<0.05). Our warmest regards, The Yang Family Sent from my iPad |
